Tio Luis Pedro in Dallas

This week Georgia met her Tio Luis Pedro for the first time. Tio Luis Pedro was playing soccer in Dallas at the Guatemala vs. USA match. We drove down on Wednesday afternoon and went to the game with Aunt Rebecca, Aunt Mindy, Uncle Randy & Uncle John. It was fun sitting in the stadium and cheering on the team. This experience was Georgia's first trip anywhere and she had lots of fun. By the time we returned to the hotel, it was almost midnight and needless to say, she was quite tired. We were able to snap a few picturews which are posted below. Now she needs to meet her Tia Cynthia, and of course, her Abuelita Orie, Abuelito Ofo and Abuelita Tenchi. Oh, and by the way, Gracias Tio Luis Pedro por el vestido blanco. Que lindo esta! Voy a tocar algunos fotos de Gigi en su vestido y ponerlo aqui muy pronto. :)

Tip-toeing through the Tulips

The weekend is here!!!! Yea!!! We have been having gardening all day long. First we went to TLC and bought hostas, hydrangeas, and other potting plants. Then we came home and Rodolfo edged while Georgia and I planted. Then I decided to pull out the camera and snap a few. Georgia enjoyed being outdoors and didn't complain once. She might be true to the meaning of her name. It was a little overcast outside, and I worried that the photos wouldn't turn out, but actually I think they look great.

Dress shopping

Easter dress shopping is upon us. Out of the myriad of dresses available I had to select only one. This pink dress is so cute. I purchased it thinking maybe it would be the one. It got the "best twirly dress" vote from Aunty Rebecca. But then, finally, after careful consideration, the winning Easter dress is instead the beautiful floral one below. It was chosen for its simplicity, length, collar and empire waist. We look forward to debuting this dress at the Easter parade.

Spring Chicky

Well, if spring hasn't sprung around here then I don't know what has. It has just been gorgeous outside. Today is a little chilly but beautiful all the same. Rodolfo, Georgia, Wally & I have gone on a walk every day except one. We have had lots of fun suiting up Gigi in her baby Bjorn and taking a nice stroll around the block.
The pictures here are of Rodolfo and Georgia right after a walk. Also pictured is Gigi with her furry friend Fifi, a Christmas present from Normita, Cesar Agusto, Andrea, Lucito, Yuyu & Titi. Gracias a ustedes por este regalo perfecto!

Aunt Mindy & Uncle John Visit

This weekend has been nice. Temperatures have warmed and it seems the March winds are blowing already. Could it be that spring is here? Oh I hope it is! Georgia and I will soon begin our gardening. I've been day-dreaming about showing her roses since before she was born. :)

Aunt Mindy and Uncle John Juan visited their most beautiful niece on Saturday. It was so good to see them. Aunt Mindy made Gigi giggle from the moment she said hello. The Minds just has a knack for making people smile. Uncle John played patty-cake with the G-ster and she loved it, although she was a bit shy at first. Georgia also entertained them with her new rapid nose blowing trick. She picked this up when she had her cold. It is fairly ridiculous and I wonder how long she will continue to do it. I hope long enough for me to catch it on video-- I need to get that thing up and running!

Marmi also visited on Friday & Saturday. It has been way too long (two weeks) since we have seen her and Grandpapa Jim. Thank goodness they wanted to babysit on Friday. It gave me and Rodolfo a chance to go out on the town (but boy were we tired by 10:00 PM-- who would have ever guessed that such a time would come when 10:00 PM seemed late).

Well, kisses to you all. It was good to see you!! Come again soon.

Valentine

Georgia reached her 6 month yesterday on Valentine's Day. I did not realize until this month that she will always reach her half birthday on this holiday. I find this fact delightful. Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday followed closely by July 4th.
We are currently battling a cold. Rodolfo had it this weekend and the beginning of this week. Now we've caught it. Hopefully it won't be too severe. I think there should be some benefits left from breastfeeding. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Other news... Gigi is now kind of sitting. Above is a picture of her froggy stance. It is so adorable to see her sit and look around. She is also starting to wave. A few nights ago Rodolofo was saying "Hola Gigi" and waving to her, and then, to our astonishment, she waved back. Since then she has been waving a lot. She even waved to the pediatrician when she came in the room!

I love this girlie! She is my angel.

Grin

Gigi has been grinning like never before. She is starting to babble syllables in a row... still no definite mama or papa just yet though. Her abs are getting stronger and she can sit up assited -- she holds on with only one hand! Soon I guess she will be sitting without help. She is very happy that Amy had Jake. Now she has another friend to play with and date!! :):) Welcome to the world Jake Butler! Here are some recent photos. She is 5.5 months in these pictures.

Princesa

Here are some beautiful photographs taken of Georgia when she was 3.5 months. My favorite is the one on the pillow.

Is the photo larger?

If this photo is larger I will try to upload photos selecting the larger format. It probably makes it easier to admire. :)

Aunty Rebecca visits Yukon

Aunty Rebecca visited Gigi last week. We had lots of fun hanging out, making paella, and getting fitted for Laurie's bridesmaid dresses. She snapped some pretty cute pictures and we just wanted to share those here. Now Aunt Mindy needs to come visit so we can post some pictures of her on here too!!!!! Rodolofo returned from Guatemala yesterday. He brought some adorable clothes for Georgia from her cousin Beatriz and Tia Cynthia. Gracias a ustedes por todos los vestidos! :) Son tan manos!

Tummy Time

Georgia has spent considerable time on her tummy lately because every time we put her on the floor she rolls over!! She loves looking at the world from this fresh angle. It probably won't be long until she starts to crawl. She is already kicking her legs underneath her and does what Denise Austin calls "little swimmies". :) About a week and a half ago Gigi shouted out the word "Papi"! She hasn't done it since, but I'm hoping she will say it again soon. Still no "Mommy" yet, but I keep making lots of M noises when I'm around her.

Merry Christmas

Gigi has now officially experienced her first Christmas. We spent it in Oklahoma City while Rodolfo was in Guatemala visiting his family. It was an enjoyable, low-key day that involved a cozy morning opening packages and drinking apple cider followed by an afternoon visit to Granny & Grampy's house.

Yum, Rice Cereal!

Gigi had her first gulp of rice cereal last week. This is what I wrote about the occasion: Gigi was beautiful eating, so cute and very open to trying this new experience. She did not swallow much of it. Most made it onto her bib, but I think it was a good start. I tasted it afterward and have to say that it is absolutely disgusting. I don't know how she took it so well. I think I'm going to try a different brand of formula... Enfamil just is icky. I have some Similac so I'll try that tomorrow.

Gigi a 3.5 meses de edad

Elle est si mignonne, n'est pas? J'adore mon petit ange.

Smiles

Whew! Long time no write. I am just sitting here in my skinny jeans, wishing I didn't spill out the top and thinking about my little beauty. The G-ster is growing by leaps and bounds. She has moved up to Pampers #3. Perhaps she still is too small for these diapers, but her legs are so chubby that the others just don't fit well. I made the executive decision to move up and I'm sure her little toosh thanks me for it. She is all smiles these days. I love just watching her and seeing what new expressions or noises she might make. After the "G" sounds Georgia moved on to "M" sounds. There were about 3 or 4 days where she would suck on her bottom lip and hum "Mmmmmmm". I encouraged her to say "Mmmommy" but had no luck in getthing anything close. This Thursday we have an appointment with a photographer for her 3 month pictures. They have a website with some wonderful examples. I hope she is able to capture at least one of the gazillion cute expressions that Gigi makes. I'm a little worried about her wild hair though. I have been experimenting with different products to try and persuade those pesky hairs to lay down. However, I have had no luck. Georgia may just have to continue with the punk-rock-princess look.

Standing Tall

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Georgia has met a new milestone! She rolled over from her tummy onto her back November 20th. When on her tummy she can lift herself up to a 90 degree angle. She looooves standing (of course with parental assitance). And she has been making lots of sounds. Recently her favorite is "gggggggg" and "gaaa".

Tomorrow we will celebrate Thanksgiving at Granny & Grampy's house. I'm hoping that Gigi will not get too overstimulated. We went to the cook-off this evening at Grandmommy & Grandpapa's and she definitely had too much excitement. I can always tell by looking into her eyes. They get red, puffy and watery. But it is the holiday season and so I suppose it is rather an initation rite. Don't we all get a bit overstimulated this time of year anyway? What with the turkey, the shopping, the Christmas lights and all it is difficult to keep a stable equilibrium.

Ready and roll 'em!

Georgia has reached new levels of achievment this past week. She is basically sleeping through the night (10:30ish PM - 7:00ish AM) and she is rolling from side to side. Now, I must admit that one time during her 8th week of life she rolled over from her back to her tummy, but she hasn't done it since until this week. She is so cute! She is also using her hands quite a bit, she likes me to prop her up on her legs so she can semi-stand and she thoroughly enjoys patty-cake and peek-a-boo. Here are some more pictures. I am especially putting these on here for Abuelita Orie, Abueltio Ofo and Abuelita Tenchi. Rodolfo tells me you are checking the blog now. Yea!! Georgia says "hola y besos"!!

Gap Baby

Being the proud parent that I am, of course, I couldn't resist submitting Gigi's photos for the Kodak / Baby Gap model search. She seems so perfect for the role, plus, the benefits of winning ($5000 college fund and 1 year supply of Gap clothes) are so enticing. I've day-dreamed about the fun we will have if she wins. Maybe it will include a trip to NYC. We will be lodged in a swank room at the Waldorf Astoria, where we will lay around in plush beds and order Belgian Waffles from room service. During the day we will have the photo shoot and at night we will swing by La Grenouille on our way to a Broadway show. Then on our return home we will swing by Baby Gap to pick up our first load of baby clothes... ah the fun! :)Here are the photos that we submitted. Isn't she so cute???
