Swim Lessons

Georgia has now officially completed her first series of swimming lessons.  She took classes at the same place that I took lessons, Kimbell Pool.  The lessons were spread over a two week period.  It has been fun waking up every morning knowing that we are heading out to the pool.  This pool is by no means fancy.  It really looks just the same as it did 30 years ago when I took lessons-- no updates, just a place to splash and have fun.  Half of the pool is 3 feet deep, perfect for someone whose height is about 41 inches.  There is a section with a diving board and that area is 11 feet deep.  Georgia has yet to venture over there, but the other day after her lessons we stayed and I jumped off that diving board about 10 times.  I had a fabulous time and I think she did too!!  :)
Here are her classmates, Alina, Grace, Georgia & Jacqueline.  The little boy in the class, I think his name is Aidan, wasn't around for the photo.
Woo hoo!  Here she is stragling between the shallow and the deeper end.  She hasn't quite made the brave jump into the deeper water yet, but she will soon enough.  Kiss kiss you cutie pie!

Introducing Chef Georgia

Move over Giada, Georgia has taken the reigns! This renegade chef designed and prepared an exquiste chocolate delight this past weekend for Aunt Rebecca on her 28th birthday. The regal confection was baked using ingredients from Granny's chocolate cake recipe. The frosting was none other than Betty Crocker and the topping consisted of a spattering of marshmellows as well as some royal jewels. Aunt Rebecca said that "the cake was moist and delicious and reminded her of Granny's cake." No higher compliment could have been granted. We look forward to seeing what else our kitchen genius will prepare in the days to come. :)

Le Weekend!

We have had an easy, breezy, beautiful weekend so far. Last night we went over to the lake and walked around. It felt so carefree to just say to heck with routine and bedtime, let's go have fun! We even took Wally and were glad to have our canine companion plopping along beside us. This afternoon we had lunch with Granny to celebrate her 88th birthday-- Happy Birthday Granny! And then this evening we are headed over to my parents to celebrate my dad's 55th (or is it 26th?) birthday. Of course, we are gearing up for Gigi's big 3rd birthday coming very soon. My week is sure to be full of planning and preparations. Ah! I love summer!

La Pinata at Norma's House

The evening before we headed back to la ciudad to catch an airplane home, Norma hosted a "pinata" for us. It was Gigi's first time to play this game. She wasn't sure why she was supposed to hit the colorful object but was pleasantly surprised to find it contained all sorts of candy!
Ready, aim, fire!!!
Needless to say, the pinata broke open with a little help from Yiu Yiu.

Orietta and Andrea.

Ti Ti and Yiu Yiu, they have grown up! I can't believe how quickly time flies.

Norma made this copy of the Lord's Supper. I'm so impressed with her talent!

And, to add to the fun, after dinner the cousins got to play with sparklers! (las estrellitas)!!!!! How fun is that!?!
